Privacy Policy

VolleyGo helps players find and host pickup volleyball games. This policy describes what personal information we collect when you use the VolleyGo mobile app or website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Account information. The email address and password you use to sign up, and any display name or username you choose. We use Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to store credentials.
• Profile information. Optional details you add such as a profile photo, skill level, and position preferences.
• Location. With your permission, we read a location fix from your device or browser and send the coordinates to our servers as part of your search for games near you; they are not shown to other users. We also save your most recent location on your device — browser storage on the web app, secure storage on the mobile app — so we don't have to ask again every visit. This is stored locally only and is not affected by signing out; it stays until you clear that storage or uninstall the app. You can decline the permission and set a location manually instead, and you can revoke the location permission at any time in your device or browser settings.
• Venue map. When you open the map to pick or add a venue for an event you're hosting, we read a live stream of your device's location — with your permission — and use it only inside that screen; the read stops as soon as you leave the screen. Unlike the search flow above, these coordinates are never sent to our servers and are never saved; the venue location we actually store is the point you tap on the map, not your live GPS position.
• Game activity. Events you host or join, RSVP status, and the venues you interact with.
• Device and diagnostic data. Crash reports and performance metrics via Firebase Crashlytics, and anonymized usage analytics via Firebase Analytics, to help us keep the app stable.
• Push notification token. A device-specific token used only to deliver reminders and RSVP updates you opt into.

How we use it

• To let you sign in and stay signed in across devices.
• To show games near you, and to match you with games and hosts.
• To send RSVP updates, host approvals, and reminders you opted into.
• To debug crashes and improve app quality.
• To respond when you contact support.

How we share it

We do not sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with our infrastructure providers so the app can work:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting, and push delivery.
• Google Places — when you search for a place by name — setting your location, or choosing a venue for a game you're hosting — the text you type is sent through our servers to Google's Places API to look up matching places.
• Apple — App Store, Sign in with Apple (when you use it), and push notification transport (APNs).

Game hosts and other participants of a game you join can see your public profile (display name, avatar) and RSVP status for that specific game. They cannot see your email, phone, or other private details.

Data retention

We keep your account and game history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account by emailing us, we delete or de-identify your personal data within 30 days, except where a legal obligation requires longer retention. Your rights

• Access, correct, or delete your account and data at any time by contacting us — see our account deletion page for the deletion process.
• Withdraw consent for location or push notifications from your device or browser settings.
• Depending on where you live (EU, UK, California, etc.), you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA. Contact us and we will honor them.

Children

VolleyGo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
